Wow, how time flies. It's already nearly October and I haven't been writing every day like I planned. I'm grasping for excused and all I can come up with is the construction on the house which creates quite a bit of dust; yet I'm not the one doing all the work! I do have to make some curtains for the new window though.
My next excuse is facebook. Yes, I spend way too much time feeding my imaginary fish and planting imaginary crops. I think the older I get, the more I miss living in the country, getting my hands in the dirt and smelling horses.
I've wasted days and days. Time to get serious.
Guten Abend(Good night)
Well, I had three days off and only put down 360 words. I could have done better with three days off. I'm kind of mad at myself. However, 360 words is better than nothing.
Our ancient TV finally decided it was tired. It still works, if you don't mind watching everything in green, or blue, or other colors that don't look right. I don't watch much TV, so it's not a big deal to me. My husband however, was determined that we should find a replacement, and quick! So, one day was spent doing that mostly. When I finally got a chance to sit in front of the thing, my youngest son and I decided to watch the first Harry Potter movie again. We both promptly fell asleep while the movie ran it's course. Oh well, maybe next time I get day off! I think I should do my writing in the mornings before I even 'log on.' Yes, I do my writing with pen to paper. Perhaps someday I will try doing my writing on the computer first instead. Perhaps it will even be a faster method.
That's it for now!
I will do better next time I have three days off....I hope!
Just a quick blog today. You can write that novel or that book of poems or whatever you want. I jotted down another 375 words today. That was after working a 12 hour shift, getting supper ready, walking the dog, doing a quick 20 minute upper body workout to 'destress' my shoulders from sitting at a computer at work all day, and taking a nice warm shower. Just 15 minutes or writing....and now...I'm off to bed. Yeah, I'll only get about 4 hours of sleep, but I guess I'm used to that.
Sweet dreams...or in my case, no dreams. I won't be in bed long enough.
Today, I was pretty sickly this morning. That passed by around 3 p.m. Just in time to cook supper I guess! A woman's work never ends.
I did take time to write though. Thinking about that minute we all have to write. Well, I don't write 250 words a minute, but it is hard for me to stop once I start. I did stop though, so perhaps each day I can continue with what I wanted to finish tonight. I like to churn our a full chapter before stopping, because I'm on a roll and I don't like to stop.
I did 500 words. So, even if you don't have much time; even if you only have ten minutes...use that 10 minutes to write. 500 words isn't too bad. It's better than -0- words, eh?
So, I'm off to sleep a bit!
So, I want to be a writer; yet all I've done for the past 10 years is procrastinate. I have to work~ I have children to take care of~ Meals to cook~ Laundry to do~ A house to clean (but is it ever clean....NOT!)~Groceries to shop for~Kids to shop for~ Places to go....things to do~Pets to take care of~~And so....the excuses go on and on.
Then I read somewhere...do you have one minute a day? A person can write over 200 words per minute. Just one minute a day! Hmmm.....that is something to think about. I've wasted about 30 minutes setting up this blog!
So, there is a book out there called 'Excuses be gone!' I'm going to get that book (on CD) and listen to it while I'm cleaning and cooking.
It's time to quit making excuses and do something. And if I learn anything while I'm at it, I will share it here.
Blogging is writing after all. Blogging might be a good place to start. Perhaps I will get inspired just writing about writing!
So, I shall dust off the YA (young adult) historical fiction I haven't looked at in all these years, and begin to finish it. It is about time, because I may be running out of time. Who knows what tomorrow will bring....or not!
I also have a 'personal journey' kind of book I'm writing. I can work on both at the same time. It would be hard to mix up the characters in these two books. However, I recommend not starting a second book until you have finished the first one.
I am a Gemini, so I like to have two of everything, including 'work in progress.'
So, whatever it is, be it writing, making that homemade baby blanket for a friend or family member who is expecting, taking a class at a college, getting together with a friend you haven't seen in months, learning to play an instrument, exercising to shed those 10 or 50 extra pounds; excuses be gone! Take a minute a day, or 15, or even 30 minutes to make it happen.
Just do it! If it is to be...it's up to me! That should be the new mantra if you have something you want to do.
Until the dust settles~~~
